Tarun Mansukhani compared babies with his dog?
Tarun Mansukhani recently joined the promotional spree for his new film, Housefull 5 and sat down for a conversation with India Today. Among other questions, the filmmaker was asked about his views on the ongoing debate about Deepika’s demand for an 8-hour work shift, especially for new moms. He mentioned that he is open to the idea of an 8-hour shift, but the actor should, in turn, give extra days to complete the filming and discuss it in advance to ensure that the whole team can be prepared. In his words:
“You can’t come to me at 11 am and say, ‘Oh, I need to leave at 5.’ I have scenes to finish with other actors, a location that may not be available again, and a budget to look into.”
At the same time, Tarun mentioned that he understands the dilemmas of a new mom and believes that everyone should support one another. However, he cautioned that making these demands just because someone else is doing it isn’t right. Moreover, the director supported Deepika’s request and claimed that he could understand her feelings because he even felt like going home and spending time with his dog. In addition, Tarun felt that these conditions should be negotiated beforehand and added to the contract from the beginning. In his words:
“I want to go home and spend time with my dog. So I get the vibe and totally get the feeling. But just put it in the contract from the beginning, then everyone’s prepared.”
Netizens criticise Tarun Mansukhani’s remark comparing baby to dog
When the statements by Tarun Mansukhani went viral on the internet, several netizens came forward to express their disapproval of his analogy. One netizen penned, “Male Mira Rajput. Babies are puppies.” For those unaware, earlier, Shahid’s wife, Mira, received flak for saying that her daughter wasn’t a ‘puppy’. So, she couldn’t understand why women have children if they can’t spend time with them. Another user commented, “He is trying to become another manchild. The answer is very kiddish. An 8-hour contract is the actress’s demand, if you can go with it then ok. If you can’t go with it, look for other options professionally. Instead these people are questioning her about how she can do it. Comparing dog with family and her first kid. Omg.”
