The much-awaited Housefull franchise is back with its fifth edition and the stellar cast of the film is grabbing the limelight. Soundarya Sharma’s transition from a dental surgeon to an actress
Born in Delhi, Soundarya pursued a career in dentistry and did her Bachelor’s in Dental Studies. While she was pursuing her residency in Delhi-based hospitals, she decided to pursue a career in acting. She participated in the Miss India pageant and was one of the finalists. She did her formal training in acting at the National School of Drama.
Soundarya made her acting debut in 2017 with the film, Ranchi Diaries, for which she was hugely applauded and was nominated for Best Female Debutant. Apart from NSD, Soundarya did a short-acting course at the New York Film Academy. In 2022, Soundarya was seen in the web series Raktanchal 2 and also participated in the reality show, Bigg Boss 16.
Soundarya Sharma has no regrets about doing a pan masala advertisement

Apart from acting, Soundarya Sharma has been featured in many commercials; however, the actress faced major backlash for her pan masala ad, alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Akshay Kumar. The actress, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, spoke about having no regrets about doing the ad. In her words:
“No, I don’t regret it. Because I think my choices as an actor are very different from the choices as a dentist or as a (normal) person. Why would I say no to something where I can be a part of and share the screen with the biggest mega stars of the country? Everyone is saying pan masala, gutka… agar aap itna moral policing kar rahe hai toh unn logo ko rokhiye na joh kha rahe hai. So how only actors are responsible? Audience ko malum hai – they are very smart.”
Soundarya Sharma gave a shocking statement on the casting couch
Soundarya Sharma is known for speaking her mind without mincing her words. For an actress like her, who has no godfather in the industry, it was difficult to be a part of noteworthy projects. However, her take on the casting couch is completely different. In an interaction with India.com, Soundarya revealed though she has never encountered the same, it is always an individual’s choice and that nothing is done at gunpoint.
Soundarya Sharma was left in tears after facing nepotism
It is never easy for an outsider to make a mark in the industry on their own. Soundarya Sharma also went through the same, however, a casting agent once asked her what she had to become a star when she was not a star kid and was neither dating an actor. In an interaction with The Times of India, she revealed:
“I was told the very first day and I knew that person is a very good casting agent. I don’t want to name him. He said, ‘You’re not dating an actor, you’re not dating a producer, you’re not dating a starkid. What makes you think that you are pretty talented and you know that will make you a star? I had no clue, I came back and I cried… But that day gave me a reality check.”
