During a group interaction held as part of the promotions of Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan was asked about his friendship with the two other Khans – Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Aamir Khan gave an interesting reply to this question.
Aamir Khan confesses, “I spent a lot more time with Ranbir Kapoor than ANYONE else”; also shares an interesting idea for Dil Chahta Hai 2: “Teeno ki band baji hui hai, therapy mein jaa rahe hai”
Aamir Khan began by saying, “It’s been a wonderful journey that we have all taken together. I’d also like to include Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan. There are some 8-10 of us who have spent 30 years together. This is a very uncommon phenomenon. It’s not very common; actors don’t have very long careers. Very few actors have such long careers. We are very fortunate that our generation of actors have had such a long healthy run.”
He added, “It’s been a great journey working with all of them, including female actors like Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rani Mukerji, etc. I have had great friendships with all of them. Hence, it would be unfair to single out Salman and Shah Rukh.”
Aamir Khan was then reminded of more names, “I am so close to Jaggu (Jackie Shroff). In fact, I am so close to Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. I spent a lot more time with Ranbir than anyone else.”
Sitaare Zameen Par is the spiritual sequel to his 2007 classic, Taare Zameen Par. On this, Aamir said, “I don’t think I have ever done a sequel before, have I?”
When asked if there is any other film of his career that deserves a sequel, Aamir Khan answered, “There are so many films. 3 Idiots (2009) can lend itself to a sequel. Those three characters can meet after a gap. Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and Sarfarosh (1999) can have a sequel.”
He added, “Dil Chahta Hai ka sequel bada accha banega. Those three characters were young. Now, after so many years, they must be battling a mid-life crisis. Teeno ki band baji hui hai, therapy mein jaa rahe hai (laughs).”
Sitaare Zameen Par releases in cinemas on June 20.
