Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) owner Vijay Mallya’s congratulatory post for the team after their big IPL victory has triggered a hilarious meme fest on X with users reminding the fugitive of the State Bank of India’s “dream”.

What started as a sentimental moment soon turned into a meme fest as social media users brought up Mallya’s unresolved loan scams with humour, sarcasm, and a generous dose of “Ee sala recovery namde” comments.

So, it all began with Mallya’s post on X where he applauded RCB for defeating Punjab Kings by six runs.

“RCB are IPL Champions finally after 18 years,” Mallya wrote on X, adding, “Superb campaign right through the 2025 tournament.” He also congratulated the team, coach, and staff for playing bold, ending with a classic “Ee Sala Cup Namde!”

In another message, Mallya, who founded the team in 2008, got a bit emotional. “When I founded RCB, it was my dream that the IPL trophy should come to Bengaluru,” he wrote. He credited himself for picking “legendary King Kohli,” along with Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, and thanked fans who stayed loyal all these years. “RCB fans are the very best,” he said. “Finally, the IPL trophy arrives in Bengaluru,” he added.

While the post was filled with nostalgia, the Internet wasn’t going to let him off that easily.

“Now it’s your turn to fulfil SBI’s dream,” a user wrote, quoting his post. Another user shared the iconic scene from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), where Shah Rukh Khan and Amrish Puri feed grains to pigeons while calling out ‘Aao Aao,’ joking that SBI and PNB are patiently waiting for Mallya to return to India.

One of the users said, “RCB got the cup, now let SBI get the cash!”

Meanwhile, RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs yesterday, scripting history under Rajat Patidar’s captaincy. The final, led on the other side by Shreyas Iyer, marked a major turnaround for the franchise.

While Vijay Mallya may have stayed away from the pitch, he didn’t escape the spotlight. His emotional notes, though heartfelt, became a launchpad for the internet’s roast fest.
