Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, producer Bhushan Kumar and director Anurag Basu attended the trailer launch of their film Metro…In Dino at an auditorium in Mumbai.
Metro…In Dino trailer launch: Pankaj Tripathi steals the show: “Aaj kal pyaar ke baad social media bhi ek ghante ke liye jaga deta hai! Premika so gayi hai lekin Instagram nahin”
The event was memorable as a role reversal happened. The actors asked questions to the media about love and relationships and it made for a great experience. After listening to a reply by a journalist, Pankaj Tripathi joked, “Aaj kal ke zamane mein pyaar ke baad social media bhi ek aadh ghante ke liye jaga deta hai! Premika so gayi hai lekin Instagram so hi nahin raha hai!”
Anupam Kher shared his connection with the venue, “On June 3, 1981, I came to this city. And on June 9, I got my first job here in this very theatre, that of a teacher. Then, it was not a closed auditorium. It was an open auditorium. The seats were made of cement. I used to make people stand in heat and conduct classes. Today, when I came here, toh poori zindagi aankhon ke saamne se guzri. I was thankful to God and even humbled for getting a chance to do 545 films.”
He credited T-Series team and Anurag Basu for organizing the trailer launch at this venue saying, “I saw all actors the same way today the way theatre actors behave before a show. Someone was doing pooja, Pankaj ji was doing rehearsal, Neena and I were doing lines and so were Aditya and Konkona. It was an electrifying experience as bahut kam aisa dekhne milta hai.”
Anurag Basu was asked about the box office trends and distributor Anil Thadani also talked about it. Pankaj Tripathi got into Mirzapur mode and in Kaleen Bhaiyya style, he stated, “Sabki chinta duur ho jaayegi. Maine prabandh karwa diya hai.”
Ali Fazal who’s also a part of Mirzapur added, “Pankaj ji, hum yahin baithe hai!” As expected, there was lot of applause and hooting from the audience.
The other memorable moment was when Anupam Kher reminded the crowd that it’s Neena Gupta’s birthday. All the actors and the media sang ‘Happy Birthday’ for her.
Metro…In Dino releases in cinemas on July 4.
