Popular cinematographer and DoP (Director of Photography), Pratik Shah, has landed in hot water after a fresh series of serious allegations have surfaced against his name. The cinematographer, best known for his work on critically acclaimed projects such as Homebound, Jubilee and CTRL, is facing fresh and serious allegations of abuse. Amid all these, Pratik’s former partner has also come forward with a deeply disturbing account of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse from when they were together.
Pratik Shah’s ex-partner breaks silence, alleges the DoP of abuse
Recently, Pratik’s former partner made a deeply disturbing blog post, accusing the cinematographer of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. The unnamed woman, who previously spoke up in a 2015 Facebook post, has once again come forward to share her traumatic experience. In her old post, she had mentioned the post-traumatic stress after leaving him, sarcastically wishing that Pratik become a ‘great cinematographer’.
In her latest blog, the anonymous wrote in chilling detail about the manipulative and toxic nature of her relationship with Pratik Shah. Without naming him directly, her intonation, “speaking up again because people need to know the truth”, leaves less room for doubt. She wrote:
“That summer, he asked me for my Gmail and Facebook passwords, and in return gave me his. I remember the rage that flew through him when he saw that I had flirted with a guy over Facebook… He screamed in my face that he would kill himself. The day that I found out that he had been cheating on me was the day he pushed me into a shelf. I should’ve reported it then, when the neighbours called the police. I didn’t.”
The abuse did not end here. The former partner shared how the details of those traumatic experiences continue to consume her even after all these years. To add to the disturbing account, the user shared how ‘no’ was never an option when she was with Pratik, indicating he would sexually abuse her against her wishes. The blog post read:
“I won’t get into the details of this situation that consumes me every day, but you get the point. ‘No’ wasn’t an option. That would have been considered rape if he wasn’t my boyfriend. Never, in a million years, would I have thought I would be a ‘survivor of abuse’.”

Abhinav Singh warns females from Pratik Shah
The fresh set of allegations against Pratik Shah came after filmmaker Abhinav Singh made a social media post last week, in which he warned others about the cinematographer, describing him as ‘very manipulative’ and ‘emotionally abusive’. Taking to his Instagram, the filmmaker wrote a warning note to his ‘female friends’, alerting them about the cinematographer. Though he didn’t take any name initially, Abinav added another post after a while, where he mentioned Pratik’s name and wrote:
“The number of women who’ve reached out to me is honestly frightening. I feel like I’m having a Margot Robbie moment from Bombshell. I will not be silenced. And to those who are still employing him – f**k you. His name is Pratik Shah. He’s a cinematographer.”
Pratik Shah distanced from Dharma Productions, dropped from Sourav Ganguly biopic

Recently, Homebound producers, Dharma Productions, released a statement affirming their zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment. Meanwhile, recent reports confirmed that Pratik has been removed from the upcoming Sourav Ganguly biopic, starring Rajkummar Rao and directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.
