Raj Kundra, entrepreneur and former co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals IPL franchise, has announced the postponement of his scheduled press conference, originally set for Monday, 2 June 2025. The event was intended to unveil documentation and evidence relating to alleged financial improprieties, offshore money laundering, and breaches of fiduciary duty involving a key promoter of the Rajasthan Royals.
Raj Kundra postpones press conference amid legal injunction by Rajasthan Royals co-owner
Mr. Kundra’s decision follows the issuance of an interim court injunction obtained without notice by Emerging Media Ventures Limited (EMV) and Manoj Kumar Badale in the High Court of Justice in London. The injunction, which restrains Mr. Kundra from making any disclosures or statements concerning the Claimants, is currently being challenged. An urgent application to discharge the injunction is being prepared and will be submitted in the coming days, on the grounds that include:
• A failure by the Claimants to provide full and frank disclosure in the ex parte application,
• Abuse of process by seeking to use English courts to suppress allegations of criminal misconduct,
• A disproportionate interference with freedom of expression under Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and
• The significant public interest in exposing alleged corruption, financial manipulation, and regulatory evasion impacting one of the IPL’s most high-profile franchises.
Speaking via his verified social media account, Mr. Kundra stated, “Let it be known I will not be intimidated or silenced. The truth will come out. The game may be called ‘gentleman’s’, but behind the scenes, it’s anything but. Due to recent developments, it may not be proper to hold the press conference, hence the press release is currently on hold but this is far from over.”
A spokesperson for Mr. Kundra added, “The English courts should not be used as a tool for corporate secrecy and intimidation. This is not just about Mr. Kundra’s rights it is about the public’s right to know the truth, and about holding powerful interests accountable when wrongdoing is alleged. Suppressing speech in the face of credible allegations of corruption serves no one.”
The application to lift the injunction is expected to be listed for hearing during the week commencing 9 June 2025. Mr. Kundra remains committed to transparency and to ensuring that matters of serious public interest are brought into the open through the appropriate legal process.
