Miley Cyrus debuted some new ink, despite admitting she regrets most of her 50-plus tattoos in a video interview for The New York Times just one day prior.
On Monday, the Grammy-winning singer’s tattoo artist, Michelle Santana from Bang Bang Tattoo in New York City, shared close-ups of her latest work — a small tattoo reading “Muse” on Cyrus’ back just below her right shoulder.
“👑Queen @mileycyrus 👑 🙏🏽grateful to have met such a G✨,” the artist captioned the carousel.
“THE TATTOO QUEEN 🔥❤️,” one fan commented. “She is my muse🧚🏼♀️🩷,” another added.
“Awesome! Now I’ll never get in with you again 🤣” a third joked.
Cyrus’ new “muse” tattoo may be a sweet homage to her mother, Tish Cyrus.
In April, the “Flowers” hitmaker took to Instagram to share her private performance of “End Of The World” at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont last year, shouting out her mom in the caption.
“The secret of a song before it’s released is such a sacred time,” Cyrus wrote. “I am honored today to have it out in the world hopefully bringing some joy, but on this night I was singing only to the person I wrote it for. My muse, my mom. xMiley”
While this is a meaningful design, when asked what one mistake she’s made that she still thinks about, Cyrus answered bluntly, “80 percent of my tattoos.”
Cyrus explained, “I don’t regret them enough to laser them, but some of them … like I love my cat, but I didn’t need that.
I love my dog, but, like, I don’t know, just having a pitbull in every picture for the rest of my life is kind of intense. There’s just a few I could do without.”
Also among her many designs? Tons of tattoos related to her relationships (and breakups) with Liam Hemsworth, Kaitlynn Carter and Cody Simpson as well as matching ink with Pete Davidson (a tribute to her 2017 “SNL” appearance that reads “We Babies”), who is in the process of removing all of his body-covering tattoos.
Perhaps Cyrus is sticking to smaller, daintier tattoos from here on out.
