In what can only be described as a beautiful full-circle moment, Manushi Chhillar returned to the Miss World stage, but this time in a completely different role. The 72nd Miss World 2025 pageant, which concluded on May 31, 2025, at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana, saw Miss World 2024 Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic crown her successor, Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand, as the winner. For Manushi, who was invited as one of the esteemed judges, this represented a bittersweet and significant return to the platform that catapulted her into global fame and recognition when she was crowned Miss World 2017 in China.

What made Manushi’s role as judge all the more celebratory was the fact that she was once on the opposite side of the very same panel that gave her the success and recognition that she enjoys today. Indeed, it was a full-circle moment like nothing else. She took to Instagram to express how honoured she was to have been invited onto the judge’s panel.
She said, “‘Beauty with a purpose’ is the soul of Miss World. And I remember, during my year, I was a 20-year-old who had this vision. I had a project and I took it to the Miss World competition as a contestant. And I still remember Gem’s words, ‘Isn’t it better to light one candle in the dark, than not to see at all?’ So all I have to say is that this is the mission of Miss World. And as we see all these wonderful women on stage, they’re not here just to be admired. They’re here to ignite change.”
For Manushi, sitting on the judging panel represented not just professional recognition, but also a testament to her journey from being a contestant to now an accomplished actress and public figure. The emotion of watching another young woman receive the crown that once changed her own life, while being in the position to help make that decision, turned out to be a rather profound moment for her. Manushi’s presence as a judge at the pageant held in India added an extra layer of significance to the event, showcasing how former Miss World winners continue to contribute to the organization’s mission of empowering women and celebrating achievement on the global stage.
