Celebrated singer KK left for heavenly abode on May 31, 2022, leaving his fans across the world stunned and sad. Lyricist and writer Manoj Muntashir emotionally spoke about the late singer on his third death anniversary, which took place recently, in an interview with us.
KK Death Anniversary: Manoj Muntashir recalls his first song recording with the late singer, “He kept cracking sharp, intelligent jokes that had everyone in splits”
KK left us too early
It’s still hard to believe KK is no longer with us. His voice continues to echo in our hearts, in every melody that speaks of love, pain, hope, and memories. His songs weren’t just music—they were feelings made audible.
Do you remember your first lyric sung by him?
I still remember the day we recorded our first song together, back in 2004. Throughout the session, he kept cracking these sharp, intelligent jokes that had everyone in splits.
Not many know of his sense of humour
Most people knew him for his unparalleled singing prowess, but very few saw the other side of him—his brilliant sense of humour, his kindness, and the lightness he carried into every room he walked into.
He is much missed
We miss the magic, the humility, and the warmth he brought, both on and off stage. There will never be another voice quite like his—effortless, honest, and eternally timeless.
He left behind a legacy hard to mime
My heart goes out to Taamara, his beloved daughter. I hope she continues to find strength in his love and in the legacy he left behind—a legacy that lives on in every note, every lyric, and every heart that ever felt something because of his music. KK will be missed. Every single day.
