Manchester United have announced the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers as the Brazilian will be the first signing of the summer transfer window for the Red Devils. Cunha was in sensational form for Wolves last season and was selected as the Players’ Player of the season by the club.

The Brazilian scored a total of 17 goals and provided six assists in all competitions for Wolves as they mounted a spirited fight to escape relegation and finish 16th in the Premier League standings. According to reports, United triggered the 62.5 million pound release clause of the Brazilian forward to get him to Old Trafford. United announced on its website that the move is subject to visa and registration.

“Manchester United has reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha.”

“The Brazilian forward’s signing is subject to visa and registration. The 26 year-old has 13 senior caps for Brazil, and, in his club career, has made 270 appearances and scored 72 goals in the English, Spanish, German and Swiss top flights,” read the statement from United.

Wolves also confirmed the move with a statement and said it was a club-record fee.

“Matheus Cunha has completed a permanent move to Manchester United for a club record fee following two-and-a-half years at Molineux.”
