The Miss World 2025 pageant was recently held in Hyderabad, India, where talented and gorgeous women from across the globe competed to win the prestigious title. However, the title has been taken home by Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri who stole the limelight by winning the pageant. At the mere age of 22, she has become the new representative of beauty, purpose, and strength in her unique way. From fighting a tough battle with cancer to becoming a new voice in women’s health, here’s more about her.
Suchata Chuangsri is beauty with a purpose
Suchata Chuangsri was born in 2003 and grew up in a business family in Phuket. Since childhood she had an inherent curiosity to know about more cultures and developed her knowledge through studies at Triam Udom Suksa School in Bangkok. Fluent in multiple languages, including English, Thai, and Chinese, Opal’s intelligence and compassion have always been her strengths.
Consequently, Opal is studying Bachelor in Political Science and International Relations at Thammasat University. She aims to become a diplomat, not just to be on a world stage, but to drive change and contribute to peace-building efforts. Further, in the future, Opal plans to further her education for this purpose.
Opal Suchata Chuangsri had a life-changing battle with breast cancer
Opal who always dreamt of being on a path to make a change in the world, received a setback after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in her teens. Rather than giving up, Opal went ahead and took significant lessons from the journey, which strengthened her purpose in life. Especially while waiting for surgery to remove eight and 10-cm tumours in the operation theatre at 16, the diva promised herself that she would live her life boldly and make it more meaningful. She told Hans India:
“From that moment, I knew I had to live my life on my own and live it well.”
An insightful conversation with a fan who was inspired by her journey led her to start the ‘Opal For Her’ campaign to create awareness around women’s health and early detection of cancer. Initially, she used to promote ‘Opal For Her’ through different means like starting a podcast, Braveheart. There, she held conversations with breast cancer survivors, doctors, and WHO officials, among others. To fuel her fight, Opal used to travel across with her phone to document significant stories.
Opal undertook vital efforts to create awareness and empower women’s health initiatives
Later, her win at the Miss Universe Thailand powered her initiative, and she started fundraising activities. Whether it was collaborating with different organizations or working with fashion brands, Opal left no stone unturned in her purpose. Moreover, she joined hands with Prima Jewellery to design their collection, Daobrak, where a share of its collection is used to fund breast cancer initiatives. Sharing the message to other cancer warriors, Opal said:
“You are not alone. You are strong, and I’ll be beside you along the way. Whatever you are facing, believe in yourself. It will get better. In Thailand, we say cancer is afraid of happiness and laughter — so always smile, laugh, and find the beauty in life.”

Despite gaining significant fame for her story and initiatives, Opal continues to remain grounded and true to her causes. She plans to eventually return to her university and pursue a master’s PhD. At the Miss World 2025 title, Suchata Chuangsri has not just won for her beauty, but she has been crowned for her grace, purpose, compassion, courage and voice. With the power of the world stage and newfound success, she aims to empower women and work in diplomacy to contribute her bid to change lives for the good.
