Paris Saint-Germain finally reached the promised land, thrashing a helpless Inter Milan 5-0 to claim their first UEFA Champions League title in Munich on Saturday, May 31. A brace from teenage sensation Dsir Dou, along with goals from Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Senny Mayulu, sealed the biggest winning margin in the history of a Champions League final. Luis Enrique’s side were simply unstoppable under the lights in Bavaria.

Inter Milan, led by Simone Inzaghi, wilted under the pressure of the big occasion as Dou and the PSG midfield ran rings around them. The match began with Inter happy to sit deep, allowing PSG to dictate play. Slowly but surely, the Paris midfield took control, with Vitinha pulling the strings as he has done all campaign. Inter initially tried to build from the back and found some momentum, but the relentless PSG press soon exposed their vulnerabilities.

The breakthrough came as Vitinha carved open Inter’s defence with a precise pass to Dou, who laid it off for Hakimi in the box. The former Inter man tapped it home with ease, sending PSG fans into a frenzy. In a show of respect, Hakimi chose not to celebrate against his old club.

Inter continued to invite trouble by giving away possession cheaply. A slick move involving Ousmane Dembl and Kvaratskhelia saw the latter narrowly miss, but PSG didn’t have to wait long for their second. In the 20th minute, after Pacho rescued a corner, the ball found Dembl, who charged at a disorganised Inter defence before setting up Dou. The Frenchman’s shot deflected off Di Marco and nestled into the net.

Inter had a brief chance to respond through a header from Francesco Acerbi, but it sailed over. They showed flashes of energy as Marcus Thuram headed wide in the 37th minute. PSG, however, finished the half stronger, with Dembl and Kvaratskhelia both going close before the break. Inter were relieved to hear the halftime whistle.

The second half picked up right where the first left off. PSG remained dominant, with Kvaratskhelia once again threatening, his shot going just wide. Inter tried to shift the momentum with substitutions—bringing on Bisseck and Zalewski for Dimarco and Pavard—but PSG’s control remained unchallenged.

In the 63rd minute, PSG extended their lead. Dembl flicked a clever ball to Vitinha, who glided through Inter’s midfield before setting up Dou for his second of the night—3-0, and the writing was on the wall.

Barcola came on after Bisseck left injured, and in the 73rd minute, PSG struck again. Dembl tore through the Inter defence and squared the ball for Kvaratskhelia, who calmly slotted it past Yann Sommer to make it 4-0.

Barcola had two chances to add a fifth, first dazzling the Inter defence with a solo run only to hit the side netting, and then firing another effort wide. Luis Enrique made a triple substitution, bringing on Gonalo Ramos, Warren Zare-Emery, and Senny Mayulu.

Mayulu would have the final say, capping off the night with a fine finish after being set up by Barcola. By then, Inter’s players and fans looked utterly deflated.

The final whistle confirmed a historic night for PSG. After years of investment, heartbreak, and near misses, the Parisian giants finally had their crowning moment—the UEFA Champions League trophy was theirs at last.
