    Mahesh Babu Starrer, ‘Khaleja’ Re-Releases In Theatres, Mahesh’s Fans Protest For Missing Scenes

    Mahesh Babu is one of the most popular actors in the South Indian film industry. He has predominantly worked in the Telugu cinemas. Currently, the actor is making headlines for his 2010 film, Khaleja’s re-release. According to a report by Siasat, when the movie was released in 2010, it didn’t do well at the box office and could earn only Rs. 18 crore. But Mahesh’s film, Khaleja, became a fan’s favourite because of the unique storyline. However, fans were quite excited about its re-release, but some missing scenes from the cult classic didn’t sit well with Mahesh’s fans, and they started protesting in theatres.

    For the unversed, the 2019 cult classic, Khaleja, starring Mahesh Babu, was released in theatres in 4K on May 30, 2025. Excited fans booked tickets to watch the action comedy, but to their utter dismay, they found that few scenes had been cropped out from the film. Following this, they started protesting and also had fights with the theatre authorities. Many videos of the fans’ fight with the theatre management surfaced online.

    Many fans of the actor took to their X handle (formerly Twitter) and shared their frustration over Khaleja’s missing scenes. One fan wrote, “Don’t you need to tell fans beforehand if you’re cutting out footage? Fans broke glass here and stopped the film from playing. Sunday Monday song is missing.” Another fan posted a fight video and penned down a short note, “Songs, scenes and dialogues are missing from the film. What are we supposed to do with this re-release? That’s why fans are creating a ruckus.” Another fan wrote, “Why cut the scenes when everything is going well?” Another wrote, “What’s this? They cut 30 minutes of scenes and messed it up, now there’s complete chaos outside.”

    Theatre authorities and producers react to the protest

    After facing public outrage over the deleted scenes, SV Cinemax took to their X handle (formerly Twitter) and tried to provide clarification to Mahesh’s fans. They shared that the content they had been screening for Khaleja, was given to them by the film’s digital content provider. Sharing their side of story, they wrote:

    “Dear #Maheshbabu fans, Please note that #Khaleja4K will be screened with the content we receive from our VPF providers. We have seen a few tweets that few scenes/ song have not been screened. So please be aware and do not let us down by creating unnecessary issues. Pls understand.”

    Later, the production team reacted to the controversy. Taking to their X handle (formerly Twitter) they assured the fans that they have sorted everything, hinting the previously missed scenes of the film during the re-release has been added. Assuring the fans, they wrote:

    “EVERYTHING SORTED. Enjoy Khaleja 4K to the fullest in theatres near you.”
