Sub-Inspector Sakina Khan shot and injured a man accused of raping a four-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow.
The accused, Kamal Kishore, was later arrested and taken to hospital for treatment. The incident took place on 28 May in the Madeyganj area, after police received a tip-off that Kishore was hiding nearby.
As the police team approached, the accused opened fire. In the encounter, SI Sakina Khan, a member of the search operation and the lead investigator on the case, responded with her service pistol, injuring Kishore.
Sakina Khan was also counselling the young victim in the same case.
The encounter has been officially recorded and SI Khan’s actions have been formally noted in the case records.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) later confirmed the incident, stating that Kamal Kishore has several criminal cases already registered against him.
