Butter yellow is one of the biggest color trends of this season. Surprised? You shouldn’t be, as the spring 2025 runways were absolutely flooded with it, with a range of takes perfectly demonstrating the color’s versatility. At Chloé, it allowed a soft suede jacket to look even softer and more feminine; on Toteme’s runway, butter yellow was responsible for making models appear as if they were draped in soft morning light, and, in Chanel’s interpretation, the color looked as ethereal as ever in billowing, semi-sheer separates. In the celebrity sphere, the mellow pastel can’t stop showing its face, either. Dubbed “Hollywood’s hottest hue,” it’s been co-opted by everyone from Katie Holmes and Kate Middleton to Timothée Chalamet at the 2025 Oscars.

And now, the butter yellow trend is extending its reign into footwear, too. Getting in on all the buttery hype, Swiss sneaker brand On just dropped its buzzy Cloud 6 runner in a pale yellow called “Blonde,” and it’s safe to say we’re ordering multiple pairs immediately.

The Cloud 6 shoe, which retails for $150 and is offered in both men’s and women’s styles, first debuted in March 2025 as the latest version of On’s internet-loved Cloud silhouette. In the first month of its release, it was already garnering hype on TikTok — where the brand is a regular favorite amongst sneaker enthusiasts. New-and-improved features of the sneaker include a redesigned sockliner, a wider opening for a more inclusive fit, enhanced durability, a slightly tweaked shape for further reduction in pronation, a greater number of CloudTec “pods” in the midsole (this being an instantly recognizable marker of the On brand) for more responsiveness, and higher traction. On calls the Cloud 6 its “all-day signature shoe,” which confirms you can totally wear it around the clock — from your shift at work to the gym to drinks with friends — and even venture so far as to match the “Blonde” colorway to your most-worn dresses, seeing as how it’s just subtle enough to act as a sartorial chameleon.

On’s latest Cloud 6 color launch in the color of summer is more proof the sportswear brand is continuing its meteoric rise. Last year, Footwear News reported on it moving aggressively into the tennis space, while also being embraced by non-athletes who appreciate On’s shoes for their innate “cool” factor. It’s also harnessed recent popular appeal by tapping Zendaya as a brand partner. In the luxury fashion space, On has also made waves by teaming up with Loewe, which helped it bestow the designer treatment on the Cloudtilt model: through the Cloudtilt Loewe and Cloudtilt Loewe 2, the latter of which was deemed the hottest product for Q2 of 2024 by the Lyst Index. The collaboration shows no signs of slowing down, since just a week ago the Cloudventure Loewe 2 hit the shelves and was accompanied by well-deserved fanfare.

While stars haven’t yet been seen out and about in the On Cloud 6 shoes’ “Blonde” variation — it just launched, after all, and no one can move that fast (even in On sneakers!) — the brand has had a loyal celebrity following for many years. Last June, Jill Biden donned a white pair of low-pro On shoes in conjunction with a bright-blue pantsuit; Emily Ratajkowski, Gisele Bündchen, and Lucy Hale, too, have walked around the streets in various trusty On styles.
