It’s Thursday, so it must be time for Netflix to release the teaser for Chris Columbus movie The Thursday Murder Club.
The Thursday Murder Club, based on Richard Osman’s novel of the same name, follows four retirees — Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie) — who solve cold case murders for fun.
The movie also stars Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant, Paul Freeman, Geoff Bell, Richard E. Grant and Ingrid Oliver. Some of them are probably also restless retirees, while at least one is probably a murderer — but that’s just us playing the odds.
The Thursday Murder Club screenplay is by Katy Brand and Suzanne Heathcote. Jennifer Todd produces with Columbus; executive producers are Osman, Eleanor Columbus (Chris Columbus’ daughter), Holly Bario and Jeb Brody. The movie is produced through Netflix’s partnership with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment.
“When an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands,” the logline reads.
Dun, dun, dun.
The Thursday Murder Club premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 28.
