After literally making waves with its series of Nike Air Max 1 collaborations in 2021, Amsterdam retailer and streetwear brand Patta is once again teaming up with the Beaverton, Ore.-based sportswear brand for a remixed rendition of a 1990s running shoe.
This time around, the Patta x Nike collaboration is concentrated on the Air Max 90. Originally shared by Patta cofounder Edson Sabajo in October, a new colorway was revealed Tuesday when it was worn by Nigerian artist Odumodublvck. Accented with neon green, the style worn by Odumodublvck features a full colorway of Particle Grey/Neutral Grey/Cyber/Black/Coconut Milk/White.
Like its styling of the Air Max 1, Patta has applied a wave-shaped mudguard to the Air Max 90’s traditionally straight-edged leather panel. The wavy appearance is complemented by Patta branding on the shoe’s heel TPU logo and a metallic silver Swoosh.

As its name suggests, the model was first released in 1990 and was the third Air Max running sneaker released by Nike. Thus, its original moniker was the Air Max 3 before shifting to the Air Max 90 name in 2000.
The Tinker Hatfield-designed Air Max 90 was notable for featuring more Air cushioning than its predecessors, but it was its ‘90s-apropos colors, such as Infrared and Laser Blue, that made it memorable to connoisseurs. In recent years, the model has taken somewhat of a backseat in popularity to more ubiquitous Nike offerings such as the Air Max 95. However, the forthcoming Patta collaboration could indicate a new marketing push for the Air Max 90.
