The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested Chintan Raghuvanshi, Deputy Director of the Enforcement Directorate’s Bhubaneswar Zonal Office, on charges of accepting a bribe from a local businessman.
According to sources, Raghuvanshi, a 2013-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, was caught red-handed by the CBI while allegedly accepting Rs 20 lakh, the first instalment of a Rs 50 lakh bribe deal.
Acting on a complaint, CBI sleuths laid a trap and conducted a sting operation, leading to Raghuvanshi’s arrest.
Raghuvanshi has been taken into custody and is expected to face further questioning.
More details are awaited as the investigation unfolds.
