Actors Ajay Devgn and Kajol spoke in support of eight-hour work shifts for new mothers. At the trailer launch of their upcoming film ‘Maa’, the duo came in support of a growing demand in the film industry.
Kajol was asked if it’s fair for new moms to ask for shorter working hours, especially when some people feel it’s not practical. Kajol smiled and said, “I love the fact that we could work less.”
Ajay Devgn interrupted and added, “It’s not that it’s not going well with people. People understand. Most of the honest filmmakers, I would say, will not have a problem with this and, apart from this, being a mother and working for eight hours, usually people have started working eight to nine hours in a shift. So I think it’s person to person, that most of the industry does understand.”

This comes at a time when more female actors and working mothers in Bollywood are asking for a better work-life balance. Earlier, it was reported that Deepika Padukone opted out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit’ due to issues with her remuneration as well as demand for an eight-hour work schedule.
Kajol’s film ‘Maa’, directed by Vishal Furia, tells the powerful story of a mother who turns into the goddess Kali to fight an ancient evil. The movie also stars Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, and Kherin Sharma.
The film is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Subbarayan, with a screenplay by Saiwyn Quadras. Music is by Harsh Upadhyay, Rocky Khanna, and Shiv Malhotra. ‘Maa’ will be released in theatres on June 27.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s action film ‘Singham Again‘, while Kajol last appeared in ‘Do Patti’ premiering in Netflix.
