Jeff Probst revealed the Survivor 50 cast, Tribal Council style. The Season 50 returning-players cast was announced on CBS Mornings on Wednesday, May 28, with a video of Probst reading names like he was reading votes (see above).
There are players from as far back as Season 1 and as recently as Season 48, which concluded just last week. There are even two players from Season 49, which doesn’t come out until this fall (their names remained concealed for now, as the Survivor 49 cast has not yet been announced). Two players are coming back for the fifth time, and one returning player is returning after having won some Emmys for a show called The White Lotus. That’s right: Mike White is in the Survivor 50 cast.
Survivor first debuted on May 31, 2000. The Season 50 cast reveal comes just days before the Emmy-winning show turns 25. Survivor 50 will push the series into uncharted territory and impact the players like never before. For the first time ever, the game is “In the Hands of the Fans.” Earlier this year, fans voted on key elements of the game, including “Idols or No Idols,” “Final Four Fire Making: Keep It or Lose It,” and “Live Finale and Reunion Show in L.A. — or Keep the Winner Reveal and Aftershow in the Jungles of Fiji.” The players won’t know what the fans voted for until they are competing on the island.
The game and the celebrations leading up to next spring’s premiere are designed to honor fans for their loyalty and passion throughout the 25 years of the hit series, and to entice new viewers as well.
Like past returning players seasons, there are some former winners among the cast, including the most recent winner, Season 48’s Kyle Fraser. His two closest allies in the game, Kamilla Karthigesu and Joe Hunter, will also be back. Kamilla made it into 48’s final four, and Kyle took Joe with him into the final three.
