This season brings together an ensemble cast including Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Surveen Chawla, Asha Negi, Khushboo Atre, Barkha Singh, Aatm Prakash Mishra, along with Mita Vashisht and Shweta Basu Prasad in pivotal roles. Known for his grounded and realistic performances, Pankaj Tripathi approached the role of Madhav Mishra with thorough preparation. For this season, the actor immersed himself in the legal world by consulting with real-life lawyers and observing courtroom proceedings.
Sharing insights into his process, Tripathi said, “I met a lawyer in Mumbai and had a conversation with him. I even spoke to two people from the Supreme Court and met others from the Bombay High Court, just to understand the nuances. There’s a slight difference between a real court and a film court, but we’ve tried our best not to make it look cinematic. There are many scenes where the judge pauses in the middle and says, ‘You both come and meet me.’ In the background, you’ll see the person in the cabin, the judge, and the lawyers sitting and talking, trying to figure out where the proceedings are going, what’s happening. This usually happens in real life but is rarely shown in films. So we’ve tried to make it as realistic as it actually is.”
The series has earned a loyal fan base for its gripping courtroom drama, with Tripathi’s Madhav Mishra at the heart of it. Season 4 raises the stakes as the lawyer finds himself in his most complex and emotionally charged case to date. Criminal Justice: A Family Matter streams exclusively on JioHotstar starting May 29.
