FC Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has signed a contract extension with the club on Tuesday, May 27. Barcelona took to social media to announce the news in the evening, confirming that the new deal will keep him at the club until 2031.
The 17-year-old forward, whose previous contract was set to expire in 2026, enjoyed a stellar 2024–25 season, playing a pivotal role in helping Bara win a domestic treble. Barcelona dominated all competitions, clinching La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. Yamal was instrumental throughout the campaign, scoring 18 goals and providing 25 assists in 55 matches.
According to Spanish media, the new contract includes performance-based clauses that could make Yamal one of the highest-paid players at the club if met. Following his electrifying season, Yamal is also seen as a leading contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Yamal scored several stunning goals in high-pressure matches, including the Champions League semi-final tie against Inter Milan, which produced a total of 13 goals across both legs. He also delivered in four El Clsico matches against Real Madrid, scoring crucial goals as Barcelona defeated their arch-rivals in every encounter.
With head coach Hansi Flick also extending his contract until 2027, the young and dynamic Bara squad is expected to push for even greater success next season.
