Karan Johar’s first instalment of the film, Dhadak, featured Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, which was released in 2018. The film held a lot of emotional moments for Karan as it was the first film of Janhvi, who is the daughter of the late Sridevi Kapoor. Unfortunately, Sridevi passed away before witnessing her daughter’s success. Now, Karan is all set for the remake of Dhadak, and he shared the first poster of the same, featuring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
Karan Johar shares the first poster of Dhadak 2
On May 26, 2025, Karan Johar took to his Instagram handle and shared two posters of the film. The poster features sizzling chemistry between Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi as they are seen hugging each other, and it shows their infinite love. Another eye-catching part of the poster was the melancholic blue tone, which matches the intense emotions of the protagonists with visible distress, hinting at an emotional, turbulent love. Along with the posters, Karan revealed the release date of the film, i.e. August 1, 2025. He wrote:
“Marne aur ladne mein se ek ko chunna ho toh, ladna. Dhadak 2 aa rahi hai nazdeeki cinema gharo mein. 1st August 2025”
As soon as the poster was shared, netizens flooded the comments section. They took a dig at the filmmaker, stating how Dhadak wasn’t a hit. One user wrote, “Dhadak 1st bhi konsi hit thii…jo second bana rahe ho.” Another commented, “Meine phele hi dekhi nahi abhi tak.” A third user penned, “Saans leta hu to Triptii k movie ajata hain.” A fourth one commented, “1st movie’s ending had me shook. Hope the protagonists fight back in this one.”

The first Dhadak marked the debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. It was a Hindi remake of the super hit Marathi film Sairat. On the other hand, Dhadak 2 seems to portray the original story, and it is directed by Shazia Iqbal; the film also shows the class divide and social constraints that come into play in the love story.
The protagonist of the second film, Siddhant Chaturvedi, is famously known for his role in the film Gully Boy. He then left a significant presence in the film, Gehraiyaan, and his screen presence opposite Deepika Padukone was loved by many. On the other hand, Triptii is famous for her roles in the films, Qala and Animal. The duo’s casting in the is going to give a new take on love stories. The film is backed by Dharma Productions and Zee Studio.
However, let us inform you that earlier when reports about Karan Johar making a sequel of Dhadak surfaced. He took to his Instagram stories, and denied the buzz, he claimed that his production house is not making a film with the title Dhadak 2. He wrote:
“To put this on the record and for all concerned, we are not making a film with the title Dhadak 2 as is being reported in various articles…”
