‘Game Changer’ editor Shameer Muhammed, in a recent interview, called out director Shankar’s unprofessional work ethics. The technician claimed that he spent almost a year in Chennai and had to leave the film midway. He further added that the film was about 7-7.5 hours long and had trimmed it down to Rs 2.5-3 hours of runtime.
Editor Shameer Muhammed, while speaking to Kaumudy Movies, said that he had spent almost a year working on ‘Game Changer’. “It was during the last six months that they came and said that I would have to stay with them for another month. I had a sketch here [Kerala], so I came at that time. When I was editing, the film was 7-7.5 hours long. I made it three and a half hours. After that, a new editor came in and shortened it to 2.5-3 hours,” he said.
Shameer Muhammed claimed that it was terrible working with director Shankar. He stated, “It was a terrible experience working with Shankar for me. I went there with great excitement, but things were happening in some other world there.”
“He would fix one date for editing, but he would turn up only after ten days. The same pattern continued for several days, and I ended up staying in Chennai for 300-350 days,” he explained.
After Shameer exited the project, editor Ruben was brought onboard. He said that he had already rejected a lot of movies because he was working on ‘Game Changer’. “Then I left the film. It would have been a terrible mistake if I had left ‘ARM’ and ‘Marco’ for ‘Game Changer’,” he explained.
‘Game Changer’ was released in theatres in January 2025 during the Sankranti holidays. The film received a lukewarm response from critics and audiences alike.
The Ram Charan and Kiara Advani-starrer is a political action drama about a government official who goes against corrupt officials. The film was reportedly produced on a massive budget of Rs 400 crore, but reports suggest that it did not break even in many territories.
