Suniel Shetty is embracing grandfatherhood with all his heart and soul. The veteran actor, known for his fitness and disciplined routine, has found a new purpose in life, to spend as much time as he can with his baby granddaughter, Evaarah Vipula Rahul, the daughter of Athiya Shetty and Indian cricketer, KL Rahul. The actor recently opened up about his beautiful bond with his granddaughter and how he is already ‘obsessed’ with the little bundle of joy.

Suniel Shetty reveals he is obsessed with baby Evaarah

During a heartfelt chat with The Lallantop, Suniel Shetty opened up about his obsession with his granddaughter, and how head over heels in love he is with baby Evaarah. The actor shared that even though he did not cry at his daughter, Athiya’s wedding, he was moved to tears when little Evaarah arrived in the world. The new grandpa now reschedules his day to manage as much time as he can with his grandchild. He was quoted as saying:

“I’m obsessed with the baby. I keep checking my phone, or running home every day. The most exciting part is that she’s going to move into the same building soon. That’s what I’m looking forward to the most. I’m even changing my workout schedule — I now finish everything by 6:30 a.m so that my duties as a grandfather can begin. Because the others in the house will be resting.”

Suniel Shetty has changed his training to match his grandfather duties

The 62-year-old actor is so dedicated to his new role that he now finishes his workout by 6:30 a.m. to start his ‘grandfather duties’. But that’s not all; he has also revamped his training to focus more on improving his strength and mobility, so that he can be better prepared and comfortable to play with Evaarah for as long as he is around. In his words:

“I have changed my training too. I’m now focusing more on bending, lifting — all the things that’ll help keep my back strong. Because with babies, you have to pick them up again and again. People think I’m joking, but my training has actually changed because of this. As you age, the body tends to bend more, lower back issues crop up, legs get weaker. So my training is all about making sure I can walk straight, bend comfortably, and play with the kids, for as long as I’m around.”

Suniel Shetty on how being a grandfather has changed him

Suniel Shetty is quite active on social media, and after becoming a grandfather to Evaarah on March 24, 2025, he has been vocal about his happiness and excitement to see his daughter become a mother. A few weeks ago, the Hera Pheri actor penned an emotional note on his LinkedIn profile, sharing the joy of grandfatherhood. Describing how baby Evaarah has brought joy to the family, the actor wrote:

“That real joy mainly comes from the simplest of things. Becoming a grandfather recently – is a feeling I can’t even describe. It’s a happiness that’s pure and untouched by anything the world can give or take away. I’ve spent decades building and running businesses, making films, and trying to create something meaningful. And I’m proud of that. But when I hold my granddaughter, none of that matters. The race to have more kind of fades when you come to that point in life where you realise what truly matters.”

Well, with baby Evaarah moving to the same building as her grandpa soon, Suniel Setty seems to have an exciting and delightful adventure ahead!
