A man was killed on Sunday following a minor issue over overtaking of a vehicle, which escalated into a heated argument in Mumbai, sources told India Today TV. The accused stabbed the victim, Zeeshan Sheikh, in his chest and succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The incident occurred around 2 pm when Sheikh was driving with his colleague in a Wagon R car on the Eastern Express Highway in Ghatkopar when a scooter being driven by the accused passed on the same road. The accused then got into a heated argument with the victim regarding reckless driving and overtaking.
According to primary investigation, the issue escalated when the accused allegedly pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed Sheikh on the left side of his chest, leaving him seriously injured. The accused and a woman, who was riding pillion, fled the spot following the incident.
Sheikh’s friend rushed him to a nearby hospital, where the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Sheikh, who was a resident of Parksite Vikhroli, was on his way to Kurla CST road at the time of the incident.
Police launched a manhunt to nab the accused and are scanning CCTV footage of the area where the incident occurred.
Sheikh is survived by two children – a daughter aged nine and a six-year-old son – his wife and parents.
A relative of Sheikh said he worked in a second-hand car sales and service shop.
His body has been kept at the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
