Elle Fanning dazzled Cannes Film Festival 2025 with a parade of stunning looks, but her fashion wins didn’t end at the red carpet. The “A Complete Unknown” star also dressed for the setting while off-duty.
Fanning stepped out in a look that embraced the French Riviera’s timeless elegance on Saturday. The actress wore a chic take on the shirt dress, in a maxi version on the poplin staple. Fanning paired Look 47 from Max Mara’s spring 2025 collection with a pair of angular high heel Talia mules from Giuseppe Zanotti in the orange leather colorway.

She completed her look Prada’s Jardinière striped canvas mini tote in ivory and blue — a nautical nod to the coastal backdrop — and a pair of Balmain’s translucent pink B-Muse cat-eye sunglasses with exposed hardware.
Beauty wise Fanning wore a red lip and her hair slicked back in a bun. She also wore an iridescent neutral manicure, and forwent wearing jewelry.
The look was a warmup for Fanning’s final Cannes 2025 red carpet appearance, where she floated in an ethereal powder blue gown that was custom haute couture Chanel. For the occasion, Fanning was styled by Samantha McMillen — who’s also to credit for her shirt dress look — in the voluminous dress that consisted of tiered tulle and metallic silver trim along the neckline and straps. Cinched at the waist with a black velvet belt with a bow, the gown also featured a shining button placket consisting of powder blue gemstones along the back.
Fanning dialed up the sparkle with diamonds by Cartier, including a diamond collar necklace and a diamond tennis bracelet. As for her beauty look. Fanning wore her hair parted in the middle in a sleek low bun and a crimson lip.
McMillen worked with Fanning throughout the actress’ press run for “A Complete Unknown,” which included ’60s-nodding bombshell looks like the backless crystal-embellished Gucci column gown Fanning wore to the Los Angeles premiere and the strapless canary yellow Prada gown she walked the red carpet in for the New York premiere, along with a stunning Cartier sapphire collar, in December 2024.
The Cannes Film Festival 2025 closing ceremony also brought out Jane Fonda, Halle Berry, Cate Blanchett and Simone Ashley to name a few.
