US former Vice President Kamala Harris expressed strong displeasure towards podcaster Anderson Cooper following a challenging interview about President Joe Biden’s debate performance against Donald Trump, according to the bombshell details released in the newly published book “Original Sin” by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson. As per the book, Harris voiced her frustration to colleagues, stating: “This motherf–ker doesn’t treat me like the damn vice president of the United States. I thought we were better than that.” This outburst came after Cooper questioned her about Biden’s cognitive abilities following a concerning debate performance in June.Despite her staff’s advice to avoid post-debate interviews due to Biden’s notably weak performance, where he appeared disoriented and struggled to maintain his train of thought, Harris proceeded with the CNN appearance. When Cooper referenced Democratic concerns about the “disaster” debate, Harris defended Biden, emphasising his “slow start” but “strong” finish.The book details that whilst Harris’s defence of Biden received praise from his inner circle, she was noticeably angered by the interview’s tone. The authors noted that Harris interpreted Cooper’s questioning, which reflected widespread public concern, as a personal affront, New York Post reported.“Original Sin”, released May 20, further reveals Biden’s significant struggles during debate preparation, including sleeping through an entire first day of practice at Camp David last June. The book describes his deteriorating condition, noting his weakening voice and difficulty maintaining composure during mock debates.The text highlights how Biden’s team attempted to manage his public appearances, often limiting video addresses to brief durations. Despite these efforts, Biden frequently struggled with even short recordings. The situation ultimately led to his unprecedented decision not to seek re-election, making him the first elected president since Lyndon Johnson in 1968 to make such a choice.Biden’s subsequent announcement of advanced prostate cancer with bone metastasis provided context to his earlier difficulties.
