Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday stated that he was willing to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi “even 50 times” to secure the required funds and project permissions for the state.
Speaking at a public gathering in Zaheerabad, Sangareddy district, Chief Minister Reddy highlighted the importance of collaboration with both the central government and the Opposition to attract investments and drive development. He also called on the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, K Chandrashekar Rao, to attend legislative sessions and participate in debates on crucial public issues.
“Politics are done only during election time. My aim is to develop this region after the elections. We will take the Centre’s support. We will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi not once, even 50 times. We will secure the funds that should come to us. We will get the permissions required,” the Chief Minister said.
He accused BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao of having neglected the state’s development during his administration, alleging that the former chief minister had remained confined to his farmhouse rather than engaging with the needs of the public.
Chief Minister Reddy reiterated the need to enhance the state’s revenue and generate wealth by establishing industrial parks and strengthening the pharmaceutical and information technology sectors.
The Chief Minister reflected on the historical association between Medak district and former prime minister Indira Gandhi, who represented the constituency in the Lok Sabha in 1980. “Medak district and Indira Gandhi are inseparable. She sacrificed her life for this country while representing this constituency,” he said.
He further claimed that progress at the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Zaheerabad had stalled under the previous BRS government. Chief Minister Reddy pledged to allot over 5,000 houses under the Indiramma housing scheme to individuals who had lost their land during the NIMZ land acquisition process.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister said his administration would be guided by the principles of social justice espoused by 12th-century philosopher and reformer Basaveshwara. After unveiling a statue of Basaveshwara near Zaheerabad, he remarked that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had invoked Basaveshwara’s message of equality and justice during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, emphasising the need for a caste census. He said Basaveshwara’s ideals would continue to inspire the Congress government’s welfare and social justice initiatives.
