Michele “Missy” Imperato Stabile, a longtime production executive and manager on dozens of feature films, is looking ahead to her next chapter.

The producer, who is currently Warner Bros.‘ president of physical production, is set to retire from the role in October, the studio’s film bosses Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy wrote in a memo to staff on Thursday.

“We are tremendously grateful to Missy for her unwavering commitment to both of us, her team, her colleagues across WBD, and the many films she has overseen at Warner Bros., and previously during our time together at MGM/Orion,” wrote De Luca and Abdy. “She will be an integral part of our transition planning over the next several months as she continues to oversee the team and productions currently underway.”

Imperato Stabile, whose credits have included Mike Nichols’ The Birdcage, Josh Boone’s The Fault in Our Stars and Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight, joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as president of physical production when Abdy and De Luca were running that studio, prior to Amazon’s acquisition of the historic company in 2022. At MGM, she worked on titles including Licorice Pizza, House of Gucci, Creed III and The Boys in the Boat.

In early 2023, the duo hired Imperato Stabile at Warner Bros. with the same title across its studio silos. At Warners, the exec worked on recent hits Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Minecraft and Sinners, and upcoming releases One Battle After Another, The Bride! and Tom Cruise’s untitled new movie.

“Missy, to put it simply, is a legend. We cannot begin to express how sad we are, but that sadness is only equaled by our deep respect for her, a respect we know you all share,” De Luca and Abdy wrote.

In her own note, Imperato Stabile added:

Dear Team,

This is a hard note to write—but here it goes.

As you may have noticed, I’m getting older, a bit slower, and possibly a touch more eccentric (though that’s still up for debate). So, the time has come for me — and my horses — to ride off into the sunset. We’re officially retiring. My last day will be October 3rd, but I’ll be around to support the transition. I’ve also agreed to consult and be available if needed after that.

This wasn’t an easy decision, mainly because working with all of you has truly been the best part of the job. From day one, you welcomed me to WBD like family. You showed up every day with ideas, energy, humor, and heart — not because you had to, but because that’s just who you are.

You made me laugh daily — and never once reported me to HR for calling you all “honey.” For that, and for so much more, thank you. You’ve made this job not only meaningful, but genuinely fun.

You are true professionals, and your dedication to WBD is both real and inspiring. I can’t express enough how much I admire, respect, and appreciate each of you. I feel incredibly lucky to be ending my career surrounded by the best of the best. Being part of this team has been the honor of a lifetime.
