Namashi Chakraborty, who debuted with Rajkumar Santoshi’s Bad Boy (2023), has been steadily working on his next projects and has some interesting stuff in the pipeline. Yesterday, May 21, it came to light that he’ll be directing a web mini-series called Toasted. Interestingly, it would also star his legendary father, Mithun Chakraborty, and also his mother, Yogita Bali Chakraborty. This marks the return of the latter to celluloid after nearly 38 years. Her last film in a full-fledged role was Mera Karam Mera Dharam (1987). She was also seen in Aakhri Badla (1989), albeit in a cameo. That was her last on-screen appearance, though it was shot way back in 1983 and had a delayed release. Toasted will be directed by Namashi Chakraborty and it’ll be produced under his banner, Myrnd Movies.

Apart from Toasted, Namashi Chakraborty will also be seen in the feature film Ghost: A Haunting Love Story. It also stars Mithun Chakraborty and newcomer Dipika Singh. Just like Toasted, this film will be made under the banner of Myrnd and will be directed by Namashi. Namashi will also feature as an actor and director in one more horror film, Mystique. It’ll be out on Halloween 2027. Outside his banner, he has completed shooting for Vivek Agnihotri’s The Delhi Files and is shooting for a Vikram Bhatt film at present.
Namashi Chakraborty spoke exclusively to Bollywood Hungama about how he convinced Yogita Bali Chakraborty to make a comeback, “After completing Ghost: A Haunting Love Story, I wanted to venture into the web. I had a story in my mind for a mini web-series, a slice of life comedy drama. It has two very prominent characters and I always wanted Dad and Mom to appear together. I have directed Dad in Ghost; so that was not a problem. But my mom has been media-shy; she retired almost 40 years ago. Nevertheless, I narrated the part and expressed my desire to cast her. She said, ‘Chalo, for you, I’ll do a small bit’. It took a lot of convincing and finally, she has agreed. She is facing the camera after nearly four decades.”
Sharing more light on this film, Namashi said, “Toasted is a love story set in Mumbai. We are yet to finalize the female lead. We’ll begin shooting for it from November 3, 2025.”
Namashi Chakraborty also talked about Ghost: A Haunting Love Story, “It will be released directly on OTT. Its post-production is going on. We are launching Dipika Singh with this film. It also stars my dad, my brother Mimoh, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, Johny Lever and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
And that’s not all. Namashi Chakraborty revealed, “I have been shooting currently for Vikram Bhatt’s Viraat for the last ten days. It is set in 1911 and features me and a tiger; we both are the main characters. Hence, it’s a very exciting movie.” It is scheduled to release in January 2026 in theatres
He added, “Vikram Bhatt is amazing. He has directed dad in two films – Gunehgar (1995) and Elaan (2005). He has also worked with Mimoh twice, in Haunted 3D (2011) and its sequel, Haunted 3D: Ghosts Of The Past. And now, he is directing me in Viraat.”
In 2026, Namashi Chakraborty will continue to don the hats of both actor and director with Mystique. He revealed, “We are writing this film. It’ll be a shot a year later. This year, as an actor, I have wrapped The Delhi Files. Viraat will go on until July end. And there’s Ghost: A Haunting Love Story as well. That’s three feature films. Work has picked up, touchwood (smiles).”
