For actor Trisha Krishnan, ‘Thug Life’ was a reunion with some of her past and favourite collaborators. With Mani Ratnam, she has done ‘Aayutha Ezhuthu’ and two ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ films, while Silambarasan aka Simbu and her delivered the iconic romantic drama ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’ and ‘Alai’.

Trisha and Kamal Haasan’s association goes a long way. She was signed for the actor’s ambitious project, ‘Marmayogi’, which was shelved due to financial issues. The two then collaborated for ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ followed by ‘Thoonga Vanam’ and now ‘Thug Life’.

In an interview with India Today Digital, Trisha said that sharing the film sets with Kamal Haasan and Simbu felt like a safe space for her.

“I have known Simbu and Kamal sir for several years now, and it was quite easy for me. In my film career, Kamal sir has been a mentor to me. Simbu and I have done two films, and we have known each other for a long time. When I entered the film set, it felt like a safe space for me. I have built a comfort level with everyone, even with Mani sir,” she explained.

After the trailer of ‘Thug Life’ released, many were surprised to see Trisha and Kamal Haasan’s intimate scenes and commented on the obvious 30-year age-gap between them. The actor, however, did not talk about the backlash at the Mumbai press conference, as claimed by many reports.

After ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2’, Trisha and Mani Ratnam are back together for a gangster drama.

Speaking about their camaraderie, she said, “It’s the comfort that I have with Mani sir and others on the set. Doing ‘Ponniyin Selvan‘ after doing ‘Aayutha Ezhuthu’ helped me understand Mani sir more. I feel like I grew up with him. I was trained by the best. Working with someone repeatedly helps you form a bond or understand each other better. He now knows what and how to extract from me. I have the comfort with him. You are both in sync than you have before.”

‘Thug Life’ is an emotional gangster drama set for grand release on June 5.
