One of the leading names in Bollywood, Aditya Chopra made the careers of many stars. The elder son of Yash Chopra and the scion of Yash Raj films, Aditya hardly makes any public appearances despite being one of the leading names in the industry. Born on May 21, 1971, Aditya began his career as an assistant director at the age of 18 and assisted his father in films like Chandni, Lamhe, Darr, Parampara and a few others.
However, it was his directorial debut film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, which made him a prominent name in Hindi cinema. With DDLJ, Aditya not only established himself but also made Shah Rukh a romantic hero. Hailed as a cult classic, DDLJ created history for its longest-running time in theatres. With films like Mohabbatein, Hum Tum, Veer Zaara, Dhoom, Fanaa, Sultan, Pathaan and many more, Aditya paved his way to people’s hearts.
Talking about his personal life, the ace filmmaker lost his heart to the stunning actress, Rani Mukerji and the duo got married in an intimate ceremony in 2014. In December 2015, they became proud parents of a baby girl whom they named Adira Chopra. Apart from his professionalism, Aditya has also garnered attention for some controversies and one of them involved Kangana Ranaut.
Aditya Chopra reportedly threatened Kangana Ranaut
When Kangana Ranaut appeared on Arnab Goswami’s news channel, Republic, the actress talked about the bigwigs of Bollywood and recalled how she was once threatened by Aditya Chopra. Speaking about the same, she said:
“The director came to my house and narrated the script. I had a meeting with Aditya Chopra… just so that I could express my apologies in person and he was fine at the time. But later a news piece came out saying ‘Kangana said No to Sultan’. And then he messaged me, ‘How dare you’! You say No to me’. And then he told me, ‘You are finished’.”
When Aditya Chopra left home for Rani Mukerji

Aditya Chopra first encountered Rani Mukerji at the Sampan Hotel in Mumbai, but to his surprise, the then-young starlet did not pursue him, vying for a role. Impressed by this and her performance in the films she had done before, Aditya recommended Rani to Karan Johar for his film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
Soon, Rani bagged many roles from Yash Raj Films, but despite being the frequent leading lady for the banner, she was never directed by Aditya Chopra himself. Soon, Rani and Aditya became friends and gradually fell in love. However, Aditya’s parents, Yash and Pamela, didn’t approve of their relationship, and when the situation heated up, Aditya walked out of his home and stayed in a hotel for some time.
Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji had a secret wedding
Aditya and Rani never had a love-at-first-sight relationship with one another. Rani and Aditya had a nice and friendly bond with each other, and it just got stronger with each film she made with YRF. When Aditya Chopra separated from his first wife, Payal Khanna, in 2009, Rani Mukerji was also in a low phase in her personal life, and the two would often find solace in each other and gradually became each other’s forever. After nearly five years of dating, Aditya and Rani tied the knot on April 21, 2014, in a hushed and very secretive Bengali wedding in Italy.
