Peppa Pig has a new sister, Evie Pig, and Mummy Pig is doing just fine after giving birth.
News from Peppa Pig’s family — including a signature heart-shaped birthmark for the newborn sister — came from the toy maker Hasbro on Tuesday, which may just have the ultimate million-dollar baby on its hands.
Evie Pig will be introduced to the world via the Peppa Meets the Baby Cinema Experience, a big screen movie to debut in around 350 U.S. cinemas on May 30. And Hasbro plans a new toy line around Peppa’s new baby sister.
That includes the Oinks & Snuggles interactive baby Evie doll, Peppa’s Family Five Pack figure set, Pepp’s Big Family Car and Peppa’s Big Fold Out House. News of Peppa Pig’s little sister also comes as the popular British animated series Peppa Pig will see Netflix debut a new exclusive game called The World of Peppa Pig, to include puzzles, mini-games, coloring books and other interactive elements, alongside clips from the long-running children’s show.
A new birth in the Peppa Pig family has been well trailed. The creators of Peppa Pig first broke the news that Mummy Pig was pregnant in February, and the hit children’s animated series revealed that she was expecting a girl in an exclusive episode of Peppa Pig Tales on Walmart.com.
Walmart is home to many exclusive Peppa Pig toys and products, as part of a partnership with Hasbro. The producers of the Peppa Pig series promise fresh storylines and new characters after the family has grown to five members with Evie’s arrival.
