Regena Cassandrra began her career in Hindi films with a lovely performance in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (2019). However, if all had gone well, she would have made her debut in Bollywood much earlier. In 2016, she had bagged Aankhen 2, the sequel to the much-loved thriller, Aankhen (2002). A launch event took place the same year where she shared the stage with the other leading actors of the film – Amitabh Bachchan and Arshad Warsi – and also director Anees Bazmee. Sadly, the film got shelved.

In an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Regena Cassandrra opened up on this film, which was keenly awaited at that time. When asked the reason for it getting shelved, she said, “I honestly don’t know. I am not a part of the industry that way that I can be like ‘This person said this’ and ‘That person said that’. I’ll be the last person to shed any light on that! It just didn’t work out as the producers had some issues. That’s all I know.”
About her forthcoming projects, Regena Cassandrra stated, “There’s Mookuthi Amman 2 that I’ll be shooting for. There’s also another Hindi film in my kitty that I hope to talk about soon as well. I am hoping that a Tamil film of mine, Party, that hasn’t seen the light of day in a few years. I hope it comes out soon. There have been conversations about it.” Party is directed by Venkat Prabhu of Maanaadu (2021) and The Greatest Of All Time (2024) fame. Besides Regena, it features stalwarts like Jai, Shiva, Sathyaraj, Jayaram, Ramya Krishnan and many others.
Regena Cassandrra was recently seen in the Sunny Deol-starrer Jaat and its sequel, Jaat 2, has been announced. Though her character Bharathi dies at the end of the first part, can she come back in the sequel? Maybe her twin sister emerges to create havoc in the life of the protagonist!
Regena Cassandrra had a hearty laugh when this writer shared this idea, “You should be writing scripts for Bollywood commercial films! That would be funny. I should tell my director that someone gave me this idea.”
Until recently, Regena Cassandrra spelt her name as Regina Cassandra. When asked about the name change, she explained, “It has everything to do with numerology. I was dabbling with it for the longest time. Then I understood why I felt attracted towards numerology. This is because I believe that every word and letter has its own energy. When you look at ‘Om’, its energy, at the end of the day. Also, what is there in a name? I changed my spelling today; I can change my name tomorrow. I am not too attached to these things, and I’d like to understand the effects of these things as well.”
