Eight people suffering heart attacks were treated over the past two days at government-run medical camps in Goa, officials said on Sunday. Five cases were identified on May 18 at a health camp in Navelim, while three were reported a day earlier in Margao.Doctors administered emergency thrombolysis on-site before transferring the patients to district hospitals. All eight people are currently under medical observation.As health minister Vishwajit Rane’s initiative, the Navelim camp is among 16 such camps held so far as part of a state-wide health drive aimed at early detection and preventive care. Over 13,000 people have been screened under the initiative, which offers free diagnostic services, specialist consultations, and emergency care.According to officials, more than 1,100 people were examined at the Navelim camp alone. The camps, held across constituencies, also include screenings for cardiac issues, cancer, and other health conditions.
