Spoilers below :
It’s the last episode of the season, and the last episode of the series as a whole but they definitely went out with a bang. For me it felt like this was the first episode that Suits LA really found its feet but it’s clear it was too late in the game for the network to keep it on the air.
This episode was a strong episode that wrapped up many storylines but also left some open-ended questions for what would have been season two. The Avery Jeffers takedown was an incredibly satisfying watch, it was nice to see everyone work together regardless of personal situation to deal with a common enemy. Watching the team come together even after their original setback was a good use of the final episode, however for me this was the b story. I was much more interested in the finalisation of Eddie’s story.
I’m incredibly glad that they chose to wrap up how Eddie died in season one rather than leaving it as a cliff-hanger for a potential season two, it made it feel like a true series finale with only a few questions left but ones that don’t fully need an answer.

I love the flashbacks that Suits LA did, and the flashback in this episode was arguably my favourite. Right from the moment that Ted’s dad suggested that Eddie stay behind instead of joining them at dinner, you could see where the story was heading. The entire sequence leading up to Eddie’s death was incredibly emotional. Once Ted started running home, it was clear that he was going to watch Eddie die. Actually watching the explosion was a lot, but it was so obvious why Ted despised his father so much, or so we thought at the time.
The phone call between Ted and Kevin gave us an insight as to why Ted was alone at the funeral, also tying back to the Pellegrini case and Santoro from earlier in the season. However the most shocking part of the episode was the fight between Ted and his father. It’s safe to say my jaw dropped massively when it was revealed that Ted’s Dad was aware of the hit out on Ted, and chose for Eddie to be killed instead of Ted. We rarely saw Ted’s dad in this series, but it certainly made you sympathize with Ted and understand his distaste towards his father. There were definitely other ways that Ted’s dad could and should have handled the situation, e.g not having one of his sons be a sacrifice for the other one.
In the present day I think the Eddie storyline had a very wholesome ending with having the park that Ted and Eddie loved going to expanded and renamed in Eddie’s honour. It also led to Stuart and Ted agreeing on the merger which was definitely a great way to end the season and show. We also got Rick and Erica finally getting together after a season long will they, won’t they.

Overall I think this was a great final episode of the series, sure it leaves us with questions about the merger and Ted’s new love triangle but not ones that require an immediate answer. I am definitely glad they did this spin-off; it had its own flare and engaging storylines. It also gave us some updates on much loved OG suits characters, it’s a shame to see it be cancelled after just one season.
What did you think of the season overall and what do you wish would have happened in season 2 had it been picked up?
