Army’s Air defence systems played a critical role in repelling Pakistan’s misadventures

China provided crucial military and satellite support to Pakistan after India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, Bloomberg reported citing findings from an Indian defence research group. The support included helping Pakistan reorganise its radar and air defence systems and adjust satellite coverage over India, suggesting Beijing’s involvement was more extensive than initially reported. “It helped them to redeploy their air defense radar so that any actions which we do from the aerial route is known to them,” Bloomberg quoted Ashok Kumar, director general at the New Delhi-based Centre For Joint Warfare Studies as saying.Kumar revealed that China assisted Pakistan in optimising its defence systems to better detect Army’s troop movements and military deployments after India launched Operation Sindoor. The conflict escalated following a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed lives of 26 civilians. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting key terrorist installations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Subsequently, Pakistan retaliated with a series of missile and drone strikes in various regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana. However, the armed forces successfully intercepted and neutralised these attacks.During the operation, forces demonstrated superior tactical capabilities by effectively neutralising critical Pakistani military and terrorist infrastructure. Forces successfully overcame Chinese-manufactured defense systems, including the HQ-9 air defense system, which proved ineffective against Army’s missile strikes, particularly those involving BrahMos missiles.
