    Overstaying in US? You risk deportation, entry ban – Times of India

    NEW DELHI: Foreigners overstaying visas in America risk deportation and a permanent ban on entry, US embassy here warned Saturday in a post on X. All international visitors staying over 30 days must register with federal authorities, it said.The advisory targets all travellers, not just Indians. However, it comes amid rising Indian travel to America. India ranked fourth among top overseas markets for US-bound travellers last year, with 22 lakh arrivals, according to US National Travel & Tourism Office data.An interagency effort is on to end illegal immigration: US Canada and Mexico topped the list due to shared borders, followed by UK at over 40 lakh.Trump administration has intensified efforts against visa fraud and unlawful entry. On May 15, the embassy said Washington had launched “a coordinated interagency effort to combat fraud and end illegal immigration”.“Those found guilty of visa fraud will face permanent bans from entering” US, the embassy said, while stressing that new visa curbs apply to people and govts involved in facilitating illegal immigration.
