It all began when the duo met as co-stars to portray the iconic love story of Kargil war hero, Vikram Batra and the love of his life, Dimple Cheema. The couple’s on-screen chemistry struck an emotional chord with the viewers. But, what most fans didn’t know then, that the couple were secretly dating. They confirmed it much later that the film played a cupid in their love story. Recently, their co-star from the film, Himanshu Malhotra, shared how he could see romance brewing between them.
Himanshu Malhotra reveals when romance brewed between Sidharth and Kiara
Himanshu Malhotra recently sat down for an interview with SCREEN. During the conversation, he recalled his time working on the film, Shershaah in 2021. Himanshu played the role of ‘Major Rajiv Kapoor’ in the film. The actor admitted that he enjoyed working with Sidharth in the film, especially during their schedule in Kargil. They were on a twenty-day schedule in the hilly city and used to spend time with their co-actors, Nikitin Dheer and Shiv Pandit when their shoot was cancelled after Article 370 was scrapped by the government. Recalling how they could feel romance brewing between Sidharth and Kiara during the filming, Himanshu said:
“We didn’t know much about their love story, but we could sense it blooming.”
He added that the film’s cast particularly witnessed the two stars together during the funeral shoot at Captain Vikram Batra’s home town, Palampur. It was the only time when they saw Kiara as she shot separately for the film during the Chandigarh schedule. Himanshu mentioned that he believes Sidharth and Kiara’s romance might have begun there when they coincidently shot Captain Vikram Batra and Dimple Cheema’s love story. In his words:
“I think it was Palampur where we saw both of them together. That’s where the funeral sequence was shot. That was the only time we saw Kiara because, after that, we moved to Kargil. I think they must have just started then. We met them, took pictures, and all of us sat together. I think the spark must just have started over there, probably where they shot the Chandigarh part. It must have escalated there.”
Vishal Batra admitted witnessing Sidharth and Kiara’s developing romance during Shershaah’s shoot
Previously, Captain Vikram Batra’s twin brother, Vishal, sat down for a conversation with Barkha Dutt and shared that in his first meeting with Sidharth, he found the actor to be honest and a soft-hearted person. Vishal shared that Sidharth and Kiara’s love story began during the filming of Shershaah, and he could sense love in their eyes when the actors visited their home in Palampur. In another interview with Bombay Times, Vishal recalled visiting Sidharth and Kiara’s wedding reception and said:
“For me, it was also a feeling that I couldn’t see Vikram’s wedding… It took me through various emotions, and being an identical twin, it’s something that can’t be explained in words. We got a message from Kiara, too, saying they are looking forward to us attending the wedding. The real Vikram and Dimple could not get married, but the reel Vikram and Dimple have, and that is a lovely feeling. Our blessings are with them. They are a lovely couple. They are two wonderful individuals, and I have never interacted with them as stars.”
