Back in 2021, Jacqueline Fernandez made headlines, for her alleged connection with Sukesh Chandrasekhar in a money laundering case. Now, the actress has come forward and shared in an interview about her struggles due to her alleged involvement with Sukesh in a Rs. 200 crore money laundering case and how her family supported her along the way.

For the unversed, Jacqueline Fernandez was linked with a conman named Sukesh Chandrasekhar as the duo was reportedly in a relationship. The case filed against the actress was due to the luxury gifts sent by the accused, Sukesh. As per multiple reports, the lavish gifts received by Jacqueline were part of a Rs. 200 crore money laundering case. On April 24, 2025, the Delhi High Court reserved the order on Jacqueline’s plea challenging the Enforcement Directorate’s charges under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
However, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Jacqueline recalled the difficult times when she went through public scrutiny due to her alleged involvement with Sukesh Chandrasekhar. The actress shared that when something linked with the actors in the industry comes out in public, their family, too, goes through a lot. She also recalled how her late mother used to support her. Recalling her struggling days, Jacqueline shared:
“What we go through as actors in the industry, our parents also go through it. Everything, it’s out there. It takes so much for parents to still support you through everything. My mother was always proud of me and she would always want me to keep striving and dreaming.”

Further in the interview, Jacqueline recalled how her late mother and father flew to her in Italy while she was shooting with her childhood role model, Jean-Claude Van Damme. The actress recalled how proud her parents were seeing her sharing the screen with her childhood icon. Recalling the golden days, Jacqueline shared:
“I just couldn’t believe. I was doing lines with him (Jean-Claude Van Damme), working with him. He was my icon. I think my entire family. We had this laser disc. My dad was hellbent that if we have to watch Jean Claude, we have to watch him on a laser disc. And cut to, I am on a set with him in Italy. We helped each other with lines. My parents came down and they were like, ‘We love our daughter. She made us proud.’ Life came full circle. At moments like this you feel it was all worth it–the struggle, the challenges, everything.”

In the same interview, Jacqueline shared she feels grateful that she could spend the last few months with her mother before the latter passed away. For the uninitiated, Kim Fernandez, mother of Jacqueline Fernandez took her last breath on April 6, 2025. She suffered a heart stroke while being admitted to Lilavati Hospital for many days. Recalling the last moments she shared with her mother, Jacqueline said:
“I was lucky that I was able to spend the last few months with her. I always feel I wish I did more. What could I have done more? It takes a lot of time to come to terms with it. I don’t think I have still come to terms with it… She was always my biggest cheerleader.”
