Abhijeet Sawant became a household name after he won the singing reality show, Indian Idol Season 1. He was also the voice behind the popular song, Mar Jaawan Mit Jaawan, from Aashiq Banaya Aapne. Coming to his personal front, he tied the knot with Shilpa Sawant in 2007. In a recent interview, Abhijeet revealed that he was on the dating app, Tinder, after his marriage with Shilpa. However, he stopped using the app after the news of his Tinder profile became public.
Abhijeet Sawant shares he joined Tinder a few years after his marriage
In a fresh interview with Hindi Rush, Abhijeet opened up about having an account on Tinder. He shared that he joined the app after his marriage to Shilpa Sawant. The singer mentioned that he was in the US, when one of his friends introduced the dating app to him. Abhijeet also disclosed that his wife, Shilpa didn’t have any clue about his account on Tinder. Talking about his Tinder profile, Abhijeet said:
“I’m a curious person. I’ve always had curiosity. I was in the US with my friend, and he said, ‘This is a new app. It’s for dating’. I made my profile then, and it was there as it is. Main kabhi kabhi beech mein jaata tha, dekhta tha kya hai yeh sab kya hota hai? Maine apna hi naam rakha tha sab kuch sahi tha. Biwi ko nahi pata tha. But kuch kiya nahi, kisise mila bhi nahi, kuch tha bhi nahi.”

Further in the interview, Abhijeet disclosed that when he had a Tinder account, he used to sometimes chat with women on the app. The singer also opened up about when the news of his Tinder profile surfaced on Twitter, he stopped using the app. He also mentioned that his wife, who was previously unaware of his Tinder profile, came to know about it when the news came out in public. Addressing the same, Abhijeet shared:
“Match aata tha, baat karte the. Yeh cheeze na bohut ajeeb hai. Mujhe baat karne ka shokh hai aur aap ladkiyon se bohut deep baat karsakte ho…Main baat karta tha bohut. 2-3 log mil gaye the jo baat karte the acche se. Baad mein Twitter pe agaya ki mera account hai, phir maine bola ki ‘Yeh accha nahi lagega’. Usko nahi pata abhi tak, ab pata chal raha. Woh bichari usko pata bhi nahi kya hota hai Tinder. Ab pata chalgaya, open yaar, usme kya hai? Cheezein karni hai toh thok k karo phir. Kitna main sab cheeze jod sakta hoon yaar.”

Abhijeet tied the knot with his childhood friend, Shilpa, in 2007. In the same interview, the singer shared that the duo used to reside in the same colony and had known each other since childhood. The couple welcomed two children. Abhijeet and Shilpa together appeared in the dance reality show, Nach Baliye Season 4.
