Priyanka Ghose, who not only directed the recenlty released The Royals but also the Indian adaptation of The Night Manager featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor, has offered some insight into the much-anticipated second season. While fans continue to speculate, Ghose clarified that there’s no official confirmation yet, although the intent to continue remains strong.

In an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Priyanka confirmed a second season of the popular show and said, “I will tell you this, till there is an official announcement or confirmation, there is nothing concrete on the plate just yet. But yes, the intention is to make a season two for sure. All of us are really keen on it, including our producers who are our British producers, England and London, who own the main property of The Night manager”.
Further talking about how these producers, who have also backed the Indian adaptation, Ghose insisted that they ‘intend to make The Night Manager 2 happen’. She continued, “But first things first, there is a lot of legalities and formalities that need to be done because we are in the midst of finishing their English season two with Tom Hiddleston and other actors and all that. Finally, their season two is coming out this year. So the rights still belong to Amazon Global right now for that. Until and unless they’ve sorted out the rights part of it, then which streaming platform is going to take over and which producers…”
While a new chapter of The Night Manager remains in development limbo, Ghose has already moved on to new creative territory. Meanwhile, her recently released The Royals – a Netflix series starring Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar is no where similar to the genre that Night Manager boasts of. Talking about how she deliberately chooses stories that are different from her past work to stay creatively energized, Priyanka stated, “I actually actively look out for it. I have actively, consciously refrained from trying to repeat the similar genre, even though I might have my own favorites. Or I might even have my own comfort zone. But I try to constantly step out of it”.
“Because also as a director, when I’m directing, especially a web series, which is possibly the longest format, I end up giving it almost two years of my life, nonstop. Like, I’m relentless like that. Like, these guys are making fun of the fact that I don’t even let go on a day that I’m not shooting. So, I have actually realized that when I give it that kind of time, I live, breathe, and eat that story every single waking moment of my life. So, for me, it becomes even more imperative that I hunt out and look out for my next one to be that much more different, so that I’m not jaded by, you know, the same similar kind of stories, or world building, or characters that I’ve already created”, she added.
She concluded, “So, it kind of keeps me on the edge. It makes me a little bit more excited for what I’m about to embark upon. So, for me, it was really a privilege that after The Night Manager, something like The Royals came my way. And I was so thrilled that I knew that I would now get the opportunity to completely shrug off everything that I was living and breathing of Night Manager, just in terms of tone, pitch, genre. And then I would shift gears and move into a completely different genre. And as a filmmaker, that really challenges you. Especially because, you know, our work is an extension of us. And I would like to believe that I can be versatile. I would like to believe that as a filmmaker, I should be able to tell all kinds of stories, and in a different way each time. That’s really what keeps me excited, you know. The creative process is such that you need to keep challenging yourself”.
With The Royals now streaming and the future of The Night Manager Season 2 hinging on global rights and platform decisions, Ghose’s approach serves as a reflection of her commitment to storytelling that evolves with each new project.
