Abhijeet Sawant, the first winner of Indian Idol, once had a strong presence in the music world. His songs touched many hearts, and he even sang for Bollywood films. However, with time, his fame started to fade. In a recent interview on the Hindi Rush Podcast, Abhijeet opened up about his journey—his rise to fame, the struggles that followed, and how things have changed for him over the years.

He fondly remembered the early days of success. “At that time, big stars would come to meet me, saying they were fans,” he shared. “Once, even Shah Rukh Khan came up to me. He was very kind and invited me to perform on a show. He personally announced my name and said he had watched many of my songs at home.”
But the singer also spoke honestly about how difficult it is to stay successful in the long run. “That consistency isn’t there anymore,” he admitted. “I’m not getting the same kind of songs. Things aren’t happening the way they used to. If I meet Shah Rukh Khan today, maybe he’ll just say hello and walk away.”
Abhijeet said that many people believe one moment of fame is enough to stay in the spotlight. But in reality, it takes regular effort and hard work to keep moving forward. “Reaching a high position is one thing, but staying there takes even more work,” he said.
Even though times have changed, Abhijeet’s words reflect the reality of the entertainment industry, where talent must be matched with constant effort to survive and grow.
