Govinda and Sunita Ahuja have been one of the most admired couples in the Hindi film industry. They have been married for more than 37 years, and fans have always praised their constant support for each other. Consequently, everyone was left shocked in February when rumours about Govinda and Sunita Ahuja’s possible divorce started doing rounds on the internet. The actor didn’t give a clear reply on the same, while his lawyer confirmed that they had filed for separation but reconciled. However, Sunita later denied the claims which left the fans confused. In a new interview, Sunita Ahuja once again hinted towards strain in her marriage with Govinda, which has left the fans concerned.
Sunita Ahuja claims she won’t let anyone take Govinda from her
Sunita Ahuja recently sat down for an interview with Deccan Talks With Asif. During the conversation, she recalled that her father wasn’t on board for her wedding with Govinda. Consequently, he didn’t attend their wedding, and she went ahead with it anyway because she was in love with Govinda. Sunita revealed that her father wanted her to be a businessman and chose a boy from Holland, but since she was in love, she didn’t agree to it. Recalling the same, she said:
“He never wanted me to marry Govinda. He didn’t even come to my wedding. He knew what goes around in the film industry, he wanted me to marry a businessman. He had even selected a boy for me in Holland, but mera pyaar sacha tha. I was 15 years old when I held Govinda’s hand. That childhood love is like that; we both loved each other a lot.”
She further went ahead and gave her signature laugh before sharing that some have cursed their bond, and she won’t let anyone take her husband, Govinda, from her. Sunita shared that when she tied the knot with the Raja Babu actor, he used to live with his big family, and it was mother-in-law got them married. She stated that her mother-in-law had warned Govinda that he would become a beggar if he left her. In her words:
“Pata nahi kis ki nazar lag gayi. I won’t let anyone take my husband away from me. When I got married to Govinda, he lived with his big family but I loved him. Even now, I am living at Govinda’s home because of my mother-in-law. She wanted us to get married. She had told him, ‘Chichi, if you leave Sunita, tu bhikhari ban jayega. I remember this dialogue.”

Sunita Ahuja previously sat down for an interview with Hauterfly and acknowledged that she has dealt with a lot of ups and downs in her marriage. She also shared her views on Infidelity in marriage and suggested that women shouldn’t ever consider their husbands as innocent. and said:
“I would like to tell women that don’t ever say that your partner is innocent. If he does it, it will become so bad and no matter how hard you try to get rid of the other woman, she won’t leave him for years. Even if you leave him, that woman won’t. Now, it has been 40 years. When it happened, then I endured it.”

Govinda and Sunita Ahuja’s relationship came into the spotlight in February 2025 when some media reports suggested that the couple had filed for divorce. At the same time, it claimed that the actor was allegedly dating a 30-year-old Marathi actress. Later, Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindal, confirmed that Sunita had filed for divorce, but now the couple was back together. Govinda mentioned that he was busy working on his comeback and avoided making any statements. However, Sunita told ABP:
“Positive hai ya negative hai. Positive hai mujhe pata hai. Mai sochti hu kuttey hai log bhaukenge. Jab tak aap mere ya Govinda ke muh se kuch na sun lo toh aap yeh mat socho kya hai kya nahi hai.”
