Spoilers for FBI Episode 21 below:

This episode was yet another jam-packed episode but one that I thoroughly enjoyed, I always love when shows harp back to previous storylines and this was one of those times. We first met Duke Ducoyle (Jere Burns) in episode 7 of the current season. He re-joins this episode for the continuation of his storyline but not in the way I expected him to.

The IRS agents being stabbed seemed to come out of the blue at the start of the episode, the attacker appeared to know their exact target the moment that they put their jacket’s on. The knife used in the attack having a marker on it was key to opening up the investigation. It led to my favourite line in the episode from OA (Zeeko Zaki). In response to Ivar Asghari (Alex Veadov) – the man who made the knife – stating he wishes to not incriminate himself, OA quips back quickly “What an incredibly incriminating thing to say”.

I love a good FBI chase scene and the one between Maggie (Missy Peregrym) and the murder suspect Sandra Longo (Paula Andrea Placido) was no different. When Maggie and OA catch Sandra, the interrogation is incredibly familiar. Which was the point that I realised either Duke or someone else was running the Calvin account again. The famous line of “I don’t recognise your authority” was a powerful line back in episode 7 and that still stands in episode 21.

Isobel (Alana De La Garza) encountered a creepy character earlier in the episode and it was hard to see at the beginning if that would relate to this current case or not. Once Isobel revealed to Maggie that she had encountered multiple stalkers since arresting Duke, it was clear that these two situations were connected. It was incredibly wholesome to see Maggie reinforce that her and Isobel were friends, the nature of their occupation is very full on, but I will always enjoy seeing them band together as a family.

OA and Maggie visiting Duke’s home appeared to be a routine assignment until the camera panned to the finger on ice sat on Duke’s table. I have to admit I did laugh at the calmness in OA’s voice when asking for confirmation that it was a finger. Duke revealing that his wife had been abducted and her finger had been sent to him was definitely a shock. What shocked me even more was how much Sandra opened up once Duke was in the interrogation room, she truly spilled all her secrets.

I did have a laugh to myself about the new app that Calvin used to contact the calvinites looking eerily similar to X’s old twitter logo. They managed to track the app to a closed down butchers, saving Duke’s wife. In the chase OA was tased twice, OA took the first taze very well but the second one took him out allowing the suspect enough time to flee.

OA and Maggie may have saved Duke’s wife physically, although they definitely had no chance of saving her from her own mental state. Revealing to the FBI and Duke that she had given her finger to the new Calvin as a sacrifice, it truly showed how far she had been dragged into the illusion of Calvin.

It felt like a disservice to Isobel for Duke to have immunity due to helping them decode the message from the new Calvin. The wish for the Greenwich 41 to be released fully tied the story back to the start of the storyline in episode 7. The protesters came out in full force to have them be released, however we quickly learnt that they were only the decoy for the new Calvin to free his brother Chris. It was a trojan horse type escape with the ambulance having the new Calvin in instead of actual ambulance workers.

The final chase scene was epic as always, ending with Chris dying bringing the story to a full close once the password for the Calvin account was handed over to the Feds. Elise (Vedette Lim) discovering the messages between Duke’s Calvin and his followers to stalk Isobel was the perfect ending for this episode. It felt good to see Duke have his comeuppance, however his warning to Isobel that things will only get worse from here cannot be ignored.

Next week is the season finale, and it looks like an explosive one. Make sure not to miss it!

What did you think of this episode and what do you think Duke meant by his threat?
