Akansha Ranjan Kapoor is on a quiet but determined upward trajectory — and she’s loving every step of the climb. Fresh off her performance as the female lead in the newly released Amazon web-series Gram Chikitshalay, where she stars opposite Amol Parashar, the actress sat down for an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama to talk about growth, prep, and the joy of the process.
EXCLUSIVE: Akansha Ranjan Kapoor reflects on her journey and joys of acting; says, “I’ve got miles to go before I sleep”
Kapoor, who has consistently chosen roles with emotional depth and narrative weight, emphasized how she puts complete trust in the director’s vision. Akansha shared, “Yeah, so I feel like I’m a director’s actor, so my process is very director-focused. Whatever they need. So the prep for Guilty was fully 100% what Ruchi required of us, while Monica (Monica O My Darling), the prep was so different because Vasant sir is so different. And then even for this, again, Rahul (Director of Gram Chikitshalay) was so, unlike any director I’ve worked with, he’s so prep-heavy. So I feel like my prep is what the director’s prep is, what they require, what they need me to get into, and I do it their way. And yeah, so I think in all cases, by the time I’m on a set, I know I’m there”.
“Like, there’s no second guessing. But I prep very hard. But again, the process is very director-focused. Whatever they need is what we do. That would be great. Every director’s dream is to work like an actor, working with an actor like you. I hope so. That’s the plan. Tell me something, you’ve also been in this industry for quite some time now,” she continued with a smile.
Reflecting on her personal and professional evolution, Akansha added, “I feel like my growth in terms of I’m happy that I’m doing credible work. I’m happy that every role I do gets audience and critic appreciation across the board. That’s a very, very big win. I do feel like I’d like to believe I’m growing. I’m getting more easy, more comfortable doing more versatile roles. So that gives me joy. I’ve got miles to go before I sleep. That’s my motto. There’s too much I want to do, too much I want to prove to myself and the world. There’s just lots I want to do. But I’m happy my growth is, it’s definitely slow but it’s uphill and that gives me joy. I think the good moments are always, I feel like signing a film. The day I sign something, the day I get locked for something, every time it’s the same high. It’s just from Guilty to this, my fourth. It’s just like, yes. It’s the most exhilarating feeling in the world.”
With her latest outing, Gram Chikitshalay, receiving a warm response, Kapoor continues to reinforce her presence in the digital space. She might be modest in words, but her passion and persistence speak volumes — making it clear that her journey is only just beginning.
