Once a madly-in-love couple, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh had a hush-hush marriage in 1991. Saif was just 20 years old when he tied the knot with Amrita, who was 12 years older than him. The duo welcomed two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Unfortunately, the duo got divorced in 2004, and Saif went on to marry Kareena Kapoor.
On the other hand, Amrita raised their children, Sara and Ibrahim single-handedly. Interestingly, not many people know this, but Sharmila and Tiger Pataudi were not invited to Saif and Amrita’s wedding. And there are hardly any pictures of the veteran actress with her first bahu, Amrita. Not just this, Sharmila hardly ever spoke about Amrita in the public domain.

Now, while scrolling through our social media handle, we stumbled upon a rare unseen throwback picture of Amrita and Sharmila. In the picture, Sharmila was seen engaged in a conversation with Amrita, while she was trying to explain her something. In the same frame, we also spotted Saif Ali Khan along with Amrita and Sharmila.
Sharmila Tagore was the epitome of beauty and grace and was one of the most sought-after actresses of the 60s and 70s. Sharmila met the Indian cricket captain, Tiger Pataudi through common friends and fell in love with him. The duo tied the knot on December 27, 1969. Mansoor and Sharmila are blessed with three children, Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan.
When Sharmila Tagore revealed not getting an invitation to Saif and Amrita’s marriage
When Saif and Amrita tied the knot secretly, the entire media was abuzz with their wedding news. After numerous attempts, a journalist reached Sharmila Tagore and Tiger Pataudi and asked about their son Saif’s secret wedding. To this, Sharmila confirmed that they got married and revealed that she wasn’t there at the wedding. The veteran actress was quoted as saying:
“Yes, the two are married. But no – I was’t there at the wedding although I was in Bombay at the time in connection with my flat.”
Though Saif Ali Khan parted ways with his first wife, Amrita, their divorce was not amicable. The actor was reportedly not allowed to meet his children Sara and Ibrahim. While the reason for their divorce remains unknown, in an old interview, Saif had claimed that Amrita used to abuse his mother and his sister. In an interaction with Subhash K Jha ages ago, Saif revealed that he had gone through a worse time. Amrita used to hurl abuses at him and his family. He said:
“To have taunts, jeers, insults and abuses thrown at your mother and sister all the time. I’ve gone through all of it. I want no confrontation with Amrita. She was, and will remain, an integral part of my life. I want her and my kids to be happy.”
Well, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh are cordial with each other, but we have hardly seen the latter with Sharmila Tagore sharing the same frame.
