Before making his acting debut, Sooraj Pancholi had an unconventional entry into the Hindi film industry. Many may not know that the Hero actor worked as a body double for Salman Khan in the 2012 action thriller Ek Tha Tiger. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film remains a fan favourite for its high-octane action and espionage-driven plot.

According to sources close to the production, Sooraj had initially visited the sets informally, but Salman Khan, impressed by his physique and energy, asked director Kabir Khan to use him as a body double for certain action scenes.
Sooraj also contributed to Ek Tha Tiger behind the camera. At just 22 years of age, he worked as an Assistant Director (AD) on the film, gaining first-hand experience in a large-scale Bollywood production.
Prior to that, he had assisted on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish (2010), starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He was only 17 at the time. These early stints helped him understand the nuances of filmmaking and performance, something he later carried into his acting career.
He made his acting debut in 2015 with Hero, a film produced by Salman Khan under his banner, which showcased Sooraj’s action abilities and screen presence. Though he kept a relatively low profile since then, he is now preparing to return to the big screen in a markedly different avatar.
Sooraj’s upcoming project, Kesari Veer, is a historical drama based on the life of Veer Hamirji Gohil, an unsung warrior from Gujarat. Directed by Prince Dhiman, the film will also feature Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, and newcomer Akanksha Sharma. This marks Sooraj’s first foray into period cinema, offering him the chance to explore a new dimension of performance.
Kesari Veer is slated for a theatrical release on May 23 and is being presented by Panorama Studios on a worldwide scale.
